Welcome to my corner of the internet! My name is Claire and I am a freebirthing mother, postpartum doula, breastfeeding educator and grief mentor, musician, and artist. I have been bringing awareness to breastfeeding grief and working with breastfeeding women since the year 2020. My breastfeeding relationship with my first daughter did not go as planned. After having a romantic, undisturbed birth at home, we entered into a difficult postpartum where I dealt with nipple pain, low milk supply, and a dehydrated newborn. We stopped breastfeeding around six weeks postpartum and I was devastated at the loss of our breastfeeding relationship. Over time, I healed from my breastfeeding grief and also decided to have another baby.
My second postpartum experience was very different! I became very knowledgeable about breastfeeding and sourced proper postpartum support. My second daughter was born at home after just five hours of labor. We experienced similar difficulties as with my first. However, this time around I had a team, tools, and a plan! With the use of a coach, family support, postpartum doula, donor milk, supplemental nursing system, chiropractic care, lactation consultant, and tongue tie release, I was able to exclusively breastfeed by three months postpartum.
Postpartum is such a sensitive and transformational time in a woman’s life. It is a time for the mother to be mothered, so that she can focus on caring for and bonding with her new baby. All women deserve to be supported during this time with love and care. I have personally experienced what it is like to have the right postpartum care vs being under-resourced. Without the support I received, I doubt I would have been able to exclusively breastfeed my second child.
I currently live in East Windsor, NJ with my family and I serve women in the nearby surrounding areas. If you would like me to serve you during your postpartum, please reach out! I would love to hear from you!
